Defending the interests of the charity in court
The Partner, General Director of our Law Firm, attorney at law Gohar Gevorgyan, represented in court the interests of SOS Children's Villages Armenia v. Iravunk Media LLC. She demanded to publicly deny the information about our Client published on the iravunk.com news site and to pay compensation.
The ww.iravunk.com news site contains information about our Client that does not correspond to reality and defames the latter's business reputation.
The lawyer claimed in court that the information was spread with the obvious intention of tarnishing the good reputation of the SOS-Children's Villages Armenian Charitable Foundation and forming a false opinion about its activities, while the charitable foundation started its activities only after the devastating 1988 Spitak earthquake and providing care for children in difficult life situations.
The lawyer proved that "Iravunk Media" LLC does not have any evidence or solid facts to prove the truth of such statements, therefore, the publication of all the mentioned statements presented untrue, defamatory data.
As a result, the court decided to uphold the lawsuit filed by General director Gohar Gorgyan , against "Iravunk Media" LLC and obliged to “Iravunk Media” LLC to publicly deny the defamatory factual data on the SOS-Children's Villages Armenian Charitable Foundation within one week after its entry into force by posting "Denial" SOS-Armenian C on the website www.iravunk.com Defining the text of the publication, as well as confiscating AMD 500,000 in favor of the SOS-Children's Villages Armenian Charitable Foundation in favor of Iravunk Media LLC as compensation for non-pecuniary damage caused by public slander. The court act also defined the obligation of "Iravunk Media" LLC to reimburse the court costs incurred by the "SOS-Children's Villages" Armenian Charitable Foundation.
